THE Gosford Cup will move to a spring date this year as part of a stayers' series, which is likely to carry a bonus, along with the Hawkesbury Gold Cup and Canberra Cup in November.
The move of the Gosford Cup (2100 metres) to November 18 is part of big plans the new chief executive at the Central Coast, James Heddo, has in store to try to boost the club's profile. "The cup will be worth $150,000 and will be 13 days after the Hawkesbury Cup and fits in well with the Canberra Cup at the end of November," Heddo said. "It will also fits into programs for horses aiming at the Christmas and summer cups, and we are hoping to have a bonus on the series."Heddo said Gosford would increase the prizemoney for its features during the next couple of years and that the listed Gosford Guineas (1200m), which will be held on April 23 this year, was high on the agenda.
